Derivations of an Effective Divisor on the Complex Projective Line

چکیده

In this paper we consider an effective divisor on the complex projective line and associate with it the module D consisting of all the derivations θ such that θ(Ii) ⊂ Ii i for every i, where Ii is the ideal of pi. The module D is graded and free of rank 2; the degrees of its homogeneous basis, called the exponents, form an important invariant of the divisor. We prove that under certain conditions on (mi) the exponents do not depend on {pi}. Our main result asserts that if these conditions do not hold for (mi) then there exists a general position of n points for which the exponents do not change. We give an explicit formula for them. We also exhibit some examples of degeneration of the exponents, in particular those where the degeneration is defined by vanishing of certain Schur functions. As application and motivation, we show that our results imply Terao’s conjecture (about the combinatorial nature of the freeness of hyperplane arrangements) for certain new classes of arrangements of lines in the complex projective plane.

The Tangent Cones at Double points of Prym-Canonical Divisors of Curves of genus 7

Let η be a line bundle on a smooth curve X with η^2=0 such that π_η, the double covering induced by η is an etale morphism. Assume also that X_η be the Prym-canonical model of X associated to K_X.η and Q is a rank 4 quadric containing X_η. After stablishing the projective normality of the prym-canonical models of curves X with Clifford index 2, we obtain in this paper a sufficient condition for...

Big Divisors on a Projective Symmetric Variety

We describe the big cone of a projective symmetric variety. Moreover, we give a necessary and sufficient combinatorial criterion for the bigness of a nef divisor (linearly equivalent to a G-stable divisor) on a projective symmetric variety. When the variety is toroidal, such criterion has an explicitly geometrical interpretation. Finally, we describe the spherical closure of a symmetric subgrou...

On generalized left (alpha, beta)-derivations in rings

Let $R$ be a 2-torsion free ring and $U$ be a square closed Lie ideal of $R$. Suppose that $alpha, beta$ are automorphisms of $R$. An additive mapping $delta: R longrightarrow R$ is said to be a Jordan left $(alpha,beta)$-derivation of $R$ if $delta(x^2)=alpha(x)delta(x)+beta(x)delta(x)$ holds for all $xin R$. In this paper it is established that if $R$ admits an additive mapping $G : Rlongrigh...

RIGID ANALYTIC PICARD THEOREMS By WILLIAM CHERRY and MIN RU

We prove a geometric logarithmic derivative lemma for rigid analytic mappings to algebraic varieties in characteristic zero. We use the lemma to give a new and simpler proof (at least in characteristic zero) of Berkovich’s little Picard theorem, which says there are no nonconstant rigid analytic maps from the affine line to nonsingular projective curves of positive genus, and of Cherry’s result...
